Health & Nutrition

There are many proven health benefits derived from eating salad leaves.

Our salad leaves are fresher than any you can buy elsewhere, the health benefits are therefore greater. Vitamin C levels for example drop significantly after just a few days following the harvest.

Our salad leaves contain:

vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, folate which is one of the B vitamins, dietry fibre, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc and omega 3. A 100g portion of salad leaves provides a large percentage of the RDA, the recommended daily allowance.

Darker green leaves tend to contain more nutrients. Because our salad, herb and flower product is a mixture of colours, you are assured of a quick and easy way to reach the 5 a day and make a significant contribution to the recommended daily allowance of many essential vitamins and minerals.

Herbs have been prized since ancient times and have for a long time had an important place in our wellness. The addition of herbs in our salad mix add extra vitamins together with minerals such as potassium, manganese and selenium and also add important essential oils. The chemical constituents of herbs have anti-inflamatory, anti-bacterial, digestive and calming properties, amongst many others. Herbs are medicines in smaller doses. They taste good too!

Edible flowers were known to have been eaten by the Romans and even before that. They are 95% water, and so virtually calorie free. They are a visual delight, have a pleasing aroma a delightful taste and have medicinal and nutritional qualities. They are rich in nectar and pollen and have anti-oxident and anti-bacterial properties.

We grow our product naturally, using only organic soil conditioners and feeds. We do not use pesticides. Our crop is managed and harvested every few days, so, there's not enough time for pests to establish themselves. Our salad leaves, herbs and flowers are free from harmful chemical residues.

We have been working with Abertay University who have been undertaking nutritional analysis tests on our products.
